Nigeria Showcases Midstream Gas Reforms as GECF Summit Opens in Doha

Nigeria has placed its midstream gas development agenda at the center of discussions as the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) begins in Doha, Qatar. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of transforming natural gas into the backbone of Nigeria’s industrial growth, energy security, and global partnerships.

NMDPRA Chief Executive Engr. Farouk Ahmed emphasized that under President Tinubu’s leadership, the gas sector has advanced from policy intentions to measurable achievements. He noted that ongoing regulatory reforms, infrastructure expansion, and investment in cleaner energy are attracting both local and international investors to the midstream segment, positioning it as the engine of Nigeria’s energy transition.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, stated that Nigeria’s participation at the GECF reflects the President’s commitment to energy diplomacy and economic cooperation. He added that the Renewed Hope Agenda seeks to ensure Africa has a respected and influential role in shaping global energy policies, with Nigeria leading by example through strategic engagement and visionary leadership.
