Nigeria’s Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, held a strategic meeting with Saudi trade envoy Migren Al-Maikr to explore investment opportunities and industrial partnerships in the country’s steel and metals sector. Discussions focused on developing new steel plants, iron ore mining projects, and gas-based initiatives at the Ajaokuta Steel Complex.
During the meeting, Prince Audu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for foreign investors, including infrastructure support, regulatory facilitation, and investment incentives. He highlighted recent achievements in the sector, such as the revival of Ajaokuta Steel, renewed activities at ALSCON, and the launch of Stellar Steel in Ogun State.
The Stellar Steel project, among other initiatives, is expected to generate 20,000 jobs by 2026, reflecting the administration’s broader efforts to boost industrialisation, enhance local production, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global steel market.
