The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to achieving a fully paperless civil service by December 31, 2025. She made this known during a working visit to Galaxy Backbone Limited in Abuja, Nigeria’s primary provider of digital infrastructure and shared ICT services.

Walson-Jack, accompanied by top officials from her office and the Ministry of Communications, toured Galaxy Backbone’s advanced digital facilities, including the Tier III Data Centre, Security Operations Centre, and Network Operations Centre. The visit was aimed at assessing the agency’s capacity to support the government’s digital transformation agenda.

Describing Galaxy Backbone as a strategic partner, Walson-Jack praised its contributions to key digital initiatives such as the GovMail platform, the War Room project, and nationwide fibre connectivity. She also outlined critical areas of collaboration, including implementation of the 1Government Cloud, workflow automation, and AI-driven tools like Service-Wise GPT for improved public service delivery.

Galaxy Backbone’s CEO, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, highlighted the agency’s growing infrastructure, which now spans 28 states and major federal buildings. He called for expanded partnerships to further digitalise public sector operations. The visit was lauded as a major step toward aligning Ministries, Departments, and Agencies with Nigeria’s digital future.
