Nigeria is set to host its maiden edition of the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), one of the world’s biggest technology events, with Lagos and Abuja confirmed as venues for the 2025 showcase.
Originally launched in Dubai in 1981, GITEX has grown into a global platform where governments, tech giants, startups, and innovators converge to shape the future of technology. The Nigerian edition marks the latest expansion of the event, following successful launches in Africa and Europe.
Organisers say GITEX Nigeria will provide a unique opportunity for the country to showcase its fast-growing digital economy, highlight local startups, and attract global investors. The expo will feature exhibitions, panel sessions, and startup challenges across key sectors such as artificial intelligence, fintech, blockchain, smart cities, and health technology.
Industry experts believe hosting GITEX will boost Nigeria’s tech ecosystem, positioning the nation as a leading hub for digital innovation in Africa. With the Federal Government pushing policies that encourage tech adoption and investment, stakeholders say the timing is right to leverage GITEX as a launchpad for growth, partnerships, and new opportunities.
