Nigerian Airlines Cut Domestic Fares by Up to 35%

Several Nigerian airlines, including Arik Air, United Nigeria Airlines, Max Air, and Rano Air, have reduced domestic ticket prices by as much as 35%, boosting competition ahead of the festive season.

According to Legit.ng, Arik Air and United Nigeria Airlines now charge between ₦150,000 and ₦160,000 on most routes, while smaller carriers like Rano Air, Aero Contractors, and Max Air offer fares as low as ₦100,000–₦120,000.

Industry experts say the reduction follows an increase in available aircraft, improved fuel supply, and greater market competition. Stable exchange rates and government reforms under President Bola Tinubu, particularly in aircraft leasing policies, have also helped airlines cut costs.

However, analysts warn the lower fares may be short-lived, with prices likely to rise again during the December travel rush.

For now, the move offers welcome relief to travelers and signals growing stability in Nigeria’s domestic aviation market.
