The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has reaffirmed the suspension of several senior officers following a viral video where one of the officers claimed that they were not served a suspension letter. In a press release dated 30th September 2024, the NCoS clarified that the suspension was properly communicated, as directed by the Civil Defence, Correctional Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
The officer in the video, along with three others, is under investigation for various misconducts. Those suspended include the officers in charge of Maximum and Medium Security Custodial Centres in Lagos, FCT, and Ebonyi.
The suspensions, effective from 26th September 2024, were conveyed through official letters. The public has been urged to remain calm as investigations proceed, with any found guilty to face appropriate penalties in line with the Public Service Rules.
