The Nigerian passport has been ranked as the 43rd strongest passport in Africa and 94th globally, according to the latest Henley Passport Index.

The ranking, which evaluates passports based on their holders’ access to visa-free destinations, shows that the Nigerian passport provides access to 46 countries without the need for a visa.

This places Nigeria among the lower ranks globally, reflecting the challenges faced by Nigerian passport holders in terms of international travel freedom. However, it also highlights the growing importance of improving diplomatic relations and exploring opportunities for increased global mobility.

The Henley Passport Index, which is updated annually, assesses passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. While Nigeria has room for improvement, this ranking remains an essential gauge for the country’s international travel policies and diplomatic engagement efforts.
