The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and arraigned 113 foreign nationals over alleged involvement in cybercrime, immigration violations, and human trafficking. The arrests were made on November 3, 2024, in Jahi, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, following an operation by the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) and Zone 7 Command.
In a statement issued Monday on X by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police disclosed that a range of sophisticated digital equipment was recovered during the operation. Items seized included laptops, smartphones, tablets, routers, high-capacity servers, drones, SIM cards, gaming devices, international passports, and other travel documents. A Black Toyota Tundra vehicle and a Harman/Kardon sound system were also confiscated.
“These assets are suspected to have been used in executing a range of cybercrime activities, including unauthorized data breaches, marketing scams, and other illicit operations. The scale and sophistication of the syndicate highlight the growing global threat posed by transnational cybercriminal networks,” the statement noted.
The suspects have been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges including computer-related fraud, unlawful data access, marketing scams, money laundering, conspiracy, and illegal immigration.
The police further revealed plans to collaborate with international law enforcement agencies and embassies to combat cross-border cybercrime and human trafficking networks.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reiterated the Force’s dedication to leveraging technology to protect Nigerians both physically and digitally. He emphasized that the police are well-equipped and committed to tackling cybercrime in the country.
