Nigeria’s Lookman, Ronaldo, Messi, Others Nominated For 2024 Globe Soccer Awards

Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has been named among the nominees for the 2024 Best Men’s Player Award at the prestigious Globe Soccer Awards, hosted annually by the Dubai Sports Council.

The announcement was made on Thursday via the Globe Soccer Awards’ official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Lookman, who has been impressing with Atalanta in Serie A after stints with Leicester City and RB Leipzig, is now part of an elite list that includes global superstars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland.

The full list of nominees includes a blend of seasoned veterans and rising stars from Europe’s top leagues. English football is well-represented by Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. Messi and Ronaldo, continuing to perform at the highest level despite their advancing years, also feature on the shortlist.

Other contenders include Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, all vying for the coveted title. Barcelona’s young sensation, Lamine Yamal, is also included in the lineup.

From La Liga, Federico Valverde, Vinícius Júnior, and Alejandro Grimaldo have been recognized for their outstanding performances, further underlining Spain’s dominance in world football.

The Globe Soccer Awards also stated that the nominees with the highest votes will make up the final shortlist for the Best Men’s Player Award. The 15th edition of the event is set to take place on December 27, alongside the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference, in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council.
