Nigeria’s crude oil production exceeded 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) in July, averaging 1.78 million bpd for the month, according to Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Komolafe described the output as a positive milestone for Africa’s largest oil producer, which has faced years of underproduction due to pipeline vandalism, crude theft, and operational disruptions.
The July figures mark one of the highest output levels in recent years, bolstering Nigeria’s ability to meet its OPEC production quota and potentially strengthening foreign exchange earnings.
