Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, has confirmed that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader has been transferred from the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja to a correctional centre in Sokoto State.

Ejimakor disclosed the development in a post on X, expressing concern over the move and its implications for access to legal representation.

According to him, Kanu’s transfer comes shortly after the court handed him a life sentence.

“MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and well-wishers,” he wrote.

The lawyer described the relocation as a setback for Kanu’s legal team, who will now face increased logistical challenges in meeting with their client.

The development has sparked conversations among supporters and observers, many of whom are questioning the rationale behind moving Kanu to a facility far from his legal base.
