Some NNPC filling stations in Lagos and Abuja have significantly increased the pump price of fuel from ₦568 to over ₦800 per litre. Reports from Tuesday morning indicate that NNPCL retail stations in Lagos are now selling fuel between ₦865 and ₦897 per litre. Specifically, the NNPC station in Alausa displayed a pump price of ₦865, while those in Ikeja and Ikuo showed prices of ₦868 and ₦897, respectively.

This development comes amid widespread fuel shortages in major Nigerian cities, causing long queues at filling stations. The recent fuel price surge is fueling concerns about further increases after NNPCL admitted over the weekend that it is facing a debt of over $8 billion. The admission has sparked speculation about potential adjustments to the pump price of fuel, exacerbating the struggles of Nigerians already facing high energy costs.
