NNPCL Conducts Tour of Resuscitated Port Harcourt Refinery

Senior management staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on Wednesday led journalists, stakeholders, and selected observers on a tour of the newly resuscitated Port Harcourt Refinery.

The tour follows last week’s announcement by the NNPCL that the 60,000 barrels-per-day refinery, inactive for years, has resumed crude refining after extensive rehabilitation.

Channels Television’s correspondent, Olu Philips, who participated in the tour, reported signs of active crude processing, including gas flares from the facility. He confirmed that TECNIMONT, the Italian engineering firm responsible for the refinery’s rehabilitation over the past two years, remains on-site to oversee operations and ensure smooth functionality.

During the tour, stakeholders commended the progress made and expressed optimism about the refinery’s potential to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported refined petroleum products.
