NNPCL Faces December 15 Deadline to Account for Trillion‑Naira Revenue Shortfall

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) has set Monday, December 15, 2025, as the final deadline for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to account for alleged revenue leakages running into trillions of naira.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Bamidele Salam, made the announcement following repeated failures by NNPCL management to honour prior invitations or submit requested documentation. The committee has specifically demanded the personal appearance of NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, to respond to audit queries.

The probe stems from findings by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, which flagged significant irregularities in NNPCL’s 2021 financial statements. Among the concerns are questionable payments for abandoned projects, unremitted statutory taxes, and disbursements made without proper approvals. The committee described the scale of the alleged leakages as “trillions of naira,” suggesting that a substantial portion of revenue intended for the Federation Account may be unaccounted for.

In response to previous summons, NNPCL cited “a critical official engagement at the Presidential Villa” for the absence of its CEO, a reason the committee has rejected. The PAC emphasized that the December 15 appearance will be the company’s final opportunity to comply with the investigation, warning of potential legislative or legal actions in the event of further non-compliance.

The committee will scrutinize all submissions to determine the extent of the revenue leakages and ensure accountability. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
