The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has disowned a planned protest march against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), scheduled to hold on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in Abuja and other states across the country.
In a statement issued on Monday, the party said it had become aware of reports indicating that some individuals, claiming to represent the NNPP, were mobilising supporters to stage a protest at INEC offices. The party leadership categorically denied authorising or endorsing any such action.
The NNPP cautioned the public, security agencies, and INEC to disregard the planned protest, stressing that those behind it do not have the mandate of the party and are acting independently. The party reiterated its commitment to lawful and peaceful engagement, noting that all grievances would be pursued through appropriate legal and institutional channels.
