Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has dismissed speculations about her defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating clearly that she has no plans to join the party.

The senator made this known while speaking in a recent interview, where she revealed that although she has been approached and encouraged by some political actors to defect, she remains firm in her decision to stay with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, her political choices are guided by principles and conviction rather than pressure or political trends. She noted that she enjoys a sense of belonging within her current party and sees no compelling reason to switch allegiance.

She also rejected the idea of following the “bandwagon” of defections, adding that political pressure will not determine her future decisions.

Her statement comes amid increasing political realignments and defections ahead of future electoral contests, with several opposition figures reportedly being courted by the ruling party.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to serving her constituents and maintaining her political stance, stressing that her focus remains on effective representation rather than party switching.
