Key political, traditional and civil society leaders from Northern Nigeria have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what they described as impressive and result driven performance in the areas of infrastructure development, security improvement and economic reform.

The leaders made these remarks during a high level interactive session organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation at Arewa House under the theme “Assessing Electoral Promises Fostering Government Citizen Engagement for National Unity.”

Speaking at the event, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who chairs the Northern Governors’ Forum, noted that several transformative infrastructure projects under Tinubu’s administration are directly benefiting the North. These include the Abuja Kaduna Zaria Kano Expressway, the Kano Katsina Maradi rail line, the AKK Gas Pipeline, the revival of the Kaduna Refinery, and the ongoing development of the Kolmani oilfield.

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, also highlighted improved security across the region, stating that over 300 terrorist and bandit commanders have been neutralized through coordinated security operations, resulting in improved safety and confidence in affected communities.

In the area of economic governance, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, revealed that federal allocations to most northern states have doubled between May 2023 and June 2025, allowing states to invest more in healthcare, education, agriculture and infrastructure. He added that the painful but necessary economic reforms, particularly subsidy removal and currency restructuring, have started yielding long term benefits.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State used the opportunity to call for internal reflection among northern elites. He urged them to take ownership of longstanding regional challenges such as poor education indicators and avoid placing all the blame on the federal government.

The forum concluded with a unified message of support for President Tinubu’s administration, urging him to sustain momentum in delivering key projects and to intensify investment in human capital, especially education.

According to the communique issued at the end of the event, President Tinubu has demonstrated strong commitment to national equity, with the North being a significant beneficiary of his administration’s renewed hope agenda.
