Northern youth leaders have firmly opposed calls for the resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
The youths, under the umbrella of the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF), described the demand as baseless and politically motivated, insisting that those behind the call lacked moral and political credibility.
The call for Yilwatda’s resignation had earlier been made by a group known as the APC Youth Solidarity Network, which accused the chairman of poor leadership and threatened mass action if he failed to step down within two weeks.
In their response, the Northern youth leaders defended Yilwatda’s record, noting that he only recently assumed the position and has been working diligently to strengthen the party by promoting unity, transparency, and grassroots inclusion.
They also urged party stakeholders to shun divisive politics and focus on supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that internal disputes could weaken the APC’s cohesion ahead of future elections.
