Now That APC Controls the South-South, Do Other Parties Still Have Political Hope?

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved complete control of the South-South geo-political zone, with all six states Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa now under the party’s leadership. The development marks a major political realignment in the region and further strengthens the ruling party’s national presence.

In the South-East, the APC controls Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo states, while Abia is governed by the Labour Party (LP) and Anambra by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Across the South-West, the APC holds Lagos, Ekiti, Ogun, and Ondo, while Oyo remains under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Osun is governed by the Accord Party.

The North-Central zone is largely dominated by the APC with control of Benue, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Kogi, while Plateau remains under the PDP. In the North-East, the APC governs Borno, Yobe, and Gombe, while Taraba, Adamawa, and Bauchi are controlled by the PDP. The North-West remains a stronghold of the APC with Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kaduna, while Zamfara is under the PDP and Kano is governed by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
