The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, led a management delegation of the Commission on a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
The visit provided an opportunity to reaffirm the Federal Government’s commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to conducting a credible, transparent, and internationally acceptable national census. The government emphasized that the exercise would be anchored on effective public communication and strong inter-agency collaboration.
Speaking during the meeting, officials highlighted that the government is prioritizing process, legality, and credibility over haste, recognizing that reliable population data is critical to national planning.
The Ministry of Information assured NPC of its full support, noting that its agencies—including the National Orientation Agency, Nigerian Television Authority, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Voice of Nigeria, and the News Agency of Nigeria—are ready to mobilize Nigerians and drive nationwide advocacy once the President announces a census date.
Dr. Yusuf, in turn, expressed confidence in the Commission’s operational readiness, stating that systems, logistics, ICT infrastructure, and personnel are being continuously refined to ensure efficiency, transparency, and credibility when the new census date is declared.
