The suspended traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, has been remanded in a correctional facility in Ilaro, Ogun State, following his arraignment before the Ifo Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

The monarch, facing charges of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, was denied immediate release after failing to meet his bail conditions. The case stems from a viral video allegedly showing him verbally and physically assaulting Areola Abraham, an elderly chief in his community.

During the hearing, Oba Ogunjobi pleaded not guilty. However, the magistrate set bail at ₦5 million, with additional conditions requiring two sureties, each to deposit ₦5 million. Unable to meet these terms, he was remanded in custody.

The case has been adjourned until March 6, allowing both prosecution and defense teams time to prepare.
