Orji Uzor Kalu, senator representing Abia North, has said Governor Alex Otti of Abia State overrates his political strength, insisting that the governor relied heavily on the backing of key stakeholders to secure victory in the 2023 governorship election.

Kalu made the remarks in a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, George Maduka. According to the former Abia State governor, Otti’s emergence as governor was not solely the result of personal political influence but was made possible through the support of influential political actors across the state.

The senator also reiterated his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he remains focused on strengthening the party’s structure and positioning it to reclaim Abia State in future elections.

Kalu’s comments come amid ongoing political realignments and debates over party dominance in Abia State following the 2023 general elections.
