Victor Osimhen trained away from his Galatasaray teammates on Thursday as the Turkish champions stepped up preparations for their Super Lig derby against Beşiktaş.

The Nigerian striker, who scored the decisive penalty in Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Liverpool at Rams Park, was withdrawn in the 72nd minute after suffering cramp.

Turkish reports indicate that the 26-year-old skipped the main group session and instead completed an individual workout, sparking concerns about his fitness for the high-profile clash.

Head coach Okan Buruk has, however, downplayed fears, stressing that Osimhen is not carrying a serious injury.

“Osimhen was just fatigued and had a cramp in his foot, but it’s nothing serious,” Buruk said. “There’s no negative update, and we expect him to be ready.”

Osimhen has made a blistering start to life in Istanbul, scoring 40 goals in 46 matches since joining from Napoli. He was named Man of the Match against Liverpool after his relentless pressing and sharp movement earned him a 16th-minute penalty, which he converted to seal Galatasaray’s famous win.
