The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than 4.4 million Nigerians have completed their online registration for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as of Sunday, September 14, 2025. The exercise, which commenced on August 18, has recorded impressive nationwide participation within just four weeks.

According to the latest INEC data, Osun State leads the chart with 552,045 registrations, followed by Lagos with 488,523, and Borno with 439,426. Other top-performing states include Ogun with 396,799 and Kebbi with 287,059. These five states account for a significant portion of the total registrations.

On the other hand, some states have recorded relatively low figures. Enugu is at the bottom of the list with just 1,839 registrations, followed by Abia with 3,532, Ebonyi with 4,024, Edo with 8,615, and Ondo with 10,781.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) also made a strong showing with 213,732 registrations, placing it in the top ten nationwide.

The full registration tally across the 36 states and the FCT stands at 4,445,505, reflecting growing voter interest ahead of the next general elections. INEC has emphasized that the online process is only the first stage, with registrants required to complete biometrics at designated centers.

Observers note that the early surge signals strong political engagement among Nigerians, particularly in states with upcoming off-cycle elections and heightened political activity.
