A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and convener of The Alternative Movement, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has lauded Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the successful commencement of commercial flight operations at the Ogun Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, located along the Iperu–Ilisan Road in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Showunmi, who recently flew from Abuja to the newly commissioned airport, described the experience as a proud moment for Ogun State and a testament to Abiodun’s vision and commitment to infrastructural development.

According to him, the realization of the airport project first conceptualized during the administration of former governor Gbenga Daniel in 2005 demonstrates the continuity of governance and the importance of completing legacy projects for the collective good of the people.

He commended Governor Abiodun for transforming the long-standing idea into a modern aviation facility that will not only enhance the state’s connectivity but also serve as a major catalyst for economic growth and investment.

“The Ogun Gateway International Airport stands as a symbol of what is possible when leadership is driven by vision and persistence. Anyone who refuses to invest in Ogun State at this point is clearly missing out on its bright economic future,” Showunmi said.

He further expressed optimism that the airport would create numerous business opportunities, boost trade, and place Ogun among the leading investment destinations in Nigeria.
