In a bid to solidify party unity and chart a clear course ahead of the 2027 general elections, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Wednesday hosted a high-level strategic caucus meeting at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The closed-door meeting precedes the crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scheduled for Thursday.

In attendance were five serving PDP governors, including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, and the host, Governor Bala Mohammed. The gathering aimed to foster consensus among party leaders and ensure alignment on key decisions that will shape the party’s future.

Also present were influential party figures such as the PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun, National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several members of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT). The meeting signals intensified internal consultations as the party prepares for what is expected to be a decisive NEC session.

Thursday’s NEC meeting is expected to ratify pivotal resolutions made by the National Working Committee (NWC), particularly concerning the upcoming national elective convention. The outcome of these deliberations could significantly impact the PDP’s organizational structure and strategic direction as it positions itself as a strong contender in the next electoral cycle.
