The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, along with the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, for alleged dereliction of duties and internal misconduct.

The suspension, announced by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, followed a marathon meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Saturday. The affected officers were also referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.

According to the statement, the decision was taken in line with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures, following complaints of non-attendance at official meetings and actions deemed contrary to the collective interest of the party.

Party sources revealed that the move is part of ongoing efforts by the PDP leadership to assert control amid growing tension between the main NWC and loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The development comes just weeks before the party’s planned national convention, heightening speculation over deepening divisions and possible realignments within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
