The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has signed an agreement to begin the nationwide distribution of premium motor spirit (PMS) from the Dangote Refinery.
The National President of PETROAN, Billy Gillis-Harry, confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that the deal would eliminate price disparities at filling stations and ensure Nigerians get fair value for their money.
“PETROAN sealed a partnership with Dangote/MRS for greater and more efficient petroleum distribution nationwide. By this agreement, Nigerians will henceforth get the best value for money paid for the purchase of PMS, and the era of price disparity will be a thing of the past, even as consideration for the cost of transportation is inclusive in the scheme,” Gillis-Harry said.
He described the agreement as a show of goodwill from Dangote Refinery, in collaboration with PETROAN, and urged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the future of the petroleum sector.
Meanwhile, PETROAN has also commended the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) for issuing gas distribution and importation licenses to the first batch of accredited marketers. These marketers include NGML, NIPCO, AXXELA, FALCON, and SNG.
PETROAN urged the licensees to support President Bola Tinubu’s gas expansion initiative by ensuring seamless gas distribution across the country’s 774 local government areas.
In preparation for these new responsibilities, PETROAN inaugurated its Lagos State Executive Council on Tuesday. The council aims to combat issues such as fuel adulteration, illegal metering adjustments, retail outlet victimization, and product hoarding.
The newly elected Lagos State Chairman of PETROAN, Akinola Ogunyolemi, emerged victorious in a keenly contested election. Other elected officials include Chief Kayode Owodiye (Vice Chairman), Ehimen Akhere Joseph (Secretary), Mrs. Jane Okoh (PRO), Prince Bakare Adeyinka (Treasurer), and Mr. Olugbenga Alex (State Technical Adviser).
Gillis-Harry charged the new leadership to engage with the Lagos State Government, as is customary in other states, to formally introduce PETROAN’s Lagos chapter to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
