The Port Harcourt Refinery has officially commenced production, with truck loading operations starting today, Tuesday, according to NNPCL spokesperson Garba Soneye.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to revitalize its domestic refining capacity and reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.
“The refinery is now operational, and trucks are loading products as we speak,” Soneye confirmed, adding that this development aligns with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) commitment to improving energy supply and boosting the economy.
The Port Harcourt Refinery, which underwent extensive rehabilitation, is expected to significantly contribute to meeting the country’s fuel demand and enhancing energy security. Further updates on production capacity and distribution are anticipated in the coming weeks.
