In commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined key dignitaries at the National Mosque, Abuja, to observe a special Juma’at prayer on Friday. The event, marking a moment of national reflection and gratitude, was attended by several high-profile figures from across the country.

Among those present were His Royal Highness, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, who led the traditional rulers’ delegation, and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Tajudeen Abass, also graced the occasion, alongside former Vice President Namadi Sambo.

The Juma’at prayer, traditionally held on Fridays, was specially conducted in honor of Nigeria’s enduring unity and resilience as it celebrates over six decades of independence. Clerics led prayers seeking divine guidance for the leadership and continued peace for the country amid growing economic and security challenges.

In his brief remarks, President Tinubu called for renewed national cohesion and urged citizens to remain steadfast in their faith in Nigeria’s future. He emphasized the importance of unity and hard work in ensuring the country’s growth, pledging the government’s commitment to uplifting the lives of all Nigerians.

This event forms part of the larger celebrations planned across the country as Nigeria reflects on its journey since independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.
