President Bola Tinubu and Chinese Prime Minister Xi Jinping are currently holding bilateral meetings in Beijing as part of the China-Africa Collaboration Summit. This summit aims to attract increased foreign direct investment to Nigeria. The meeting includes prominent officials from both governments, including China’s economic team and members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by Chairman Abdulrazak Abdulrahman of Kwara State and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

Also present are members of President Tinubu’s economic team and other cabinet members. Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale had previously stated that the visit would involve discussions on various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs). These agreements are expected to focus on cooperation in areas such as the green economy, agriculture, satellite technology, media development, and blue economic development.

Ngelale noted that the discussions would cover mutual interests, including national, regional, and international security issues. The meeting comes amid recent reports of a Chinese company seizing Nigerian government aircraft, adding another layer of significance to the talks.
