The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has revealed that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) received a total of ₦1.024 trillion in education tax revenue between 2020 and 2024.
This significant financial injection underscores the Tinubu administration’s firm commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s tertiary education system through transparent and strategic allocation of national resources. The funds, disbursed over five years, were directed toward improving infrastructure, enhancing academic research, and supporting staff development across public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
By leveraging revenue from the extractive sector, the administration continues to demonstrate how accountability and public-private partnerships can transform the nation’s educational landscape for long-term growth and innovation.
