The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken a major step toward improving electricity supply and advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition.

As part of its Renewed Hope Agenda, the government has initiated a comprehensive feasibility study on battery energy storage systems to support the integration of solar and wind power into the national grid.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Power in collaboration with international partners, is aimed at improving grid reliability, expanding access to power in underserved regions, and accelerating the deployment of renewable energy technologies across the country.

According to the Ministry, the battery storage feasibility study will lay the groundwork for large-scale adoption of clean energy solutions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. It also aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and climate resilience by 2060.

This latest move builds on President Tinubu’s strategic focus on modernizing the power sector, reducing electricity deficits, and ensuring that Nigerian homes, schools, hospitals, and industries have access to stable and sustainable power sources.
