President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have overseen the approval of the Nigerian Medium-term National Development Plan 2026–2030, known as the Renewed Hope Economic Development Plan. The initiative is designed to build on ongoing reforms and support the administration’s ambitious goal of achieving $1 trillion in economic growth.
The plan was announced during a briefing with State House correspondents following the 151st NEC meeting chaired by Vice President Shettima. The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, stated that the new framework will replace the 2021–2025 plan, which concludes this December.
Senator Bagudu explained that the Renewed Hope Plan aligns with Nigeria’s long-term Agenda 2050, developed in 2020 with input from the private sector, civil society, political parties, traditional institutions, and other stakeholders.
He emphasized that the plan will ensure policy continuity, consolidate ongoing reforms, and address emerging socioeconomic challenges. Key objectives include accelerating job creation, enhancing human capital, expanding sustainable infrastructure, improving food security, and strengthening social protection. The NEC called on all states and stakeholders to participate actively to ensure inclusivity and drive accelerated national growth.
