
President Bola Tinubu has announced significant progress in Nigeria’s transport sector, revealing that rail transport has grown by over 40 percent and water transport by 27 percent over the past 28 months.
Speaking during the 65th Independence Day celebrations, the President highlighted key projects driving this growth, including the 284-kilometre Kano-Katsina-Maradi Standard Gauge rail line and the Kaduna-Kano rail line. Work is also progressing on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.
The Federal Executive Council has approved $3 billion to complete the Eastern Rail Project, reflecting the administration’s commitment to modernizing transport infrastructure and improving connectivity across the country.
The announcement was made during President Tinubu’s national broadcast on Independence Day and is available on the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation website.
