In a bid to ease the hardship faced by Nigerians during the festive season, President Bola Tinubu announced government measures to subsidize transportation costs nationwide.

In his 2024 Christmas message, President Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government has introduced free train rides and subsidized road transport costs across 144 routes nationwide. These initiatives are part of efforts to ensure convenient and affordable travel for Nigerians during the holidays.

“For those traveling during this festive period, I wish you safe journeys. Rest assured, the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure our transportation routes are secure and convenient,” Tinubu stated.

The President extended warm Christmas greetings to Nigerians and urged citizens to reflect on the season’s message of hope, peace, and unity. He encouraged Nigerians to support and pray for leaders at all levels of government as they work toward national restoration and progress.

“On this joyous Christmas Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to Christians across Nigeria and worldwide as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, as narrated in the Holy Scriptures,” Tinubu said.

He highlighted the significance of Christmas as a time to embrace love, peace, and unity, reminding Nigerians of the resilience and hope that light can bring even in the darkest times.

The President also called for compassion and kindness toward those facing challenges, urging Nigerians to support their neighbors and spread goodwill. “As we celebrate this blessed season, let us be mindful of those facing difficulties. They are not far from us—our neighbors, family members, and the people we encounter daily,” he said.

Tinubu emphasized that kindness transcends financial status, stating, “Those with modest means and those with abundance need a smile or a word of encouragement.”

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to steering Nigeria toward a prosperous future. “Nigeria is on a promising path of restoration and progress, with every indication pointing toward a bright future. In the spirit of this season, let us renew our hope and belief in a prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, the government’s transportation subsidies aim to ensure that the holiday season is marked by ease of movement and collective goodwill.
