Heading the Governing Board is Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa, who has been nominated as Chairman. Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji of Kano will serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO).

Other notable members of the board include:

• Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto)
• Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi)
• Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara)
• Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna)
• Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano)
• Shamsu Sule (Katsina)
• Nasidi Ali (Jigawa)

These appointees bring with them a wealth of experience in governance, infrastructure, and social development, and are expected to guide the Commission in fulfilling its mandate.

The NWDC will focus on catalysing sustainable development, tackling infrastructural deficits, and creating economic opportunities within the North West. President Tinubu reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the Commission’s work, ensuring it delivers lasting benefits to the region.

The nominees’ confirmation by the Senate will mark the official commencement of the Commission’s operations.
