President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS). Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed is named as the new Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi is appointed as the new Director-General of the DSS.

Ambassador Mohammed brings extensive experience from his long tenure in the foreign service, having served in multiple roles since joining the NIA in 1995. His career includes notable positions such as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya, and service in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House, Abuja.

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, previously the Assistant Director-General of the DSS, has a distinguished record, having served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

These appointments follow the resignation of the former heads of the NIA and DSS. President Tinubu expects the new leaders to enhance the effectiveness of the intelligence agencies and address the country’s security challenges through improved collaboration and strategic alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The President extended his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
