President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of chief executives for the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).

According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President named Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, a visiting professor at the NUC, as its Executive Secretary. Prof. Ribadu, an expert in veterinary reproduction, has previously served as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State.

For the NERDC, Tinubu appointed Salisu Shehu as Executive Secretary. Shehu is a distinguished scholar in educational and human psychology, credited with establishing the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano, and serving as Vice-Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.

The President also appointed Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi Tsauri as the National Coordinator of NEPAD. Tsauri holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University. He is a seasoned administrator with extensive experience in legislative affairs, global governance, and public service.

Additionally, President Tinubu approved the renewal of Fatima Umaru Shinkafi’s appointment as Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI). Shinkafi, originally appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, has been instrumental in driving reforms in the solid minerals sector.

Onanuga clarified that an earlier announcement regarding Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as Executive Secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI has been rescinded, as there is no vacancy in the agency.

The President expressed confidence in the appointees, emphasizing that their expertise and track records will inspire renewed commitment, progress, and positive outcomes in meeting Nigerians’ expectations.
