President Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the hierarchy of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.

In the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede becomes the Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu has been appointed the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff.

Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

President Tinubu, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other service chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.

The President charged the newly appointed service chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by upholding professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

All appointments take immediate effect.
