President Tinubu Appoints Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as Chairman of National Hajj Commission

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). The appointment, announced on August 19, 2024, is subject to Senate confirmation.

Professor Usman is a distinguished Islamic scholar, holding advanced degrees from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University in Pakistan. His academic credentials are complemented by extensive experience in Hajj operations. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Board, where he oversaw the state’s large contingent of pilgrims with notable success.

The President’s choice reflects his confidence in Professor Usman’s ability to lead NAHCON with integrity and transparency. The new chairman is expected to manage the commission’s affairs with the highest level of professionalism, ensuring that Nigeria’s Hajj operations are conducted smoothly and efficiently.
