The Federal Government has announced plans to fund 75 digital innovation projects with ₦75 million beginning October 1, 2025, as part of efforts to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation. The programme, coordinated by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy through NITDA, will support startups, researchers, and innovators, including members of the diaspora, to strengthen the country’s digital economy.

In addition to funding, the government will partner with global technology companies to establish hyperscale data centres under its Cloud First Strategy. The centres are expected to enhance Nigeria’s data sovereignty by hosting critical national information locally, reducing dependence on foreign infrastructure, and creating a reliable base for digital services.

The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places innovation and technology at the heart of economic growth. Officials said the projects will boost ICT’s contribution to GDP, drive job creation, and promote digital inclusion, while also positioning Nigeria as a regional hub for digital infrastructure and investment.
