President Tinubu Approves Lifetime Salaries for Retiring Senior Interior Officers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new policy granting lifetime salary benefits to senior officers retiring from key agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this on Thursday during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat, where he highlighted the achievements of the ministry and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the performance of all agencies. The policy covers officers retiring at the levels of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, Commandant-General, or higher.

A statement signed by DCF P.O. Abraham, National Public Relations Officer and Head of Corporate Services at the Federal Fire Service, noted that the minister expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his unwavering support, adding that agencies under the ministry are already benefiting from the Renewed Hope Agenda. He also confirmed that the backlog of promotions has been cleared, and future career advancement will be guided by a performance-based framework.

In his remarks, Tunji-Ojo further announced that new training manuals have been developed, while work has commenced on a state-of-the-art Fire Academy as part of efforts to strengthen institutional capacity across the sector.
