
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged all stakeholders in the upcoming Edo State governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, to conduct themselves peacefully and with sportsmanship. He called on governorship candidates, political parties, and supporters to respect the democratic process and the will of the people.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of civility, tolerance, and adherence to electoral rules in ensuring a successful democratic process. He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is committed to conducting a free and fair election and called on all parties to collaborate for a peaceful outcome.
Commending the candidates and political parties for their focus on key issues such as improving livelihoods and promoting economic growth, the President encouraged Edo citizens to remain peaceful during the voting process and to resolve any disputes through legal channels.
President Tinubu also expressed confidence in the integrity and professionalism of security agencies and INEC officials, urging them to maintain neutrality and avoid actions that could undermine the election’s credibility.
