President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Senator Gbenga Ashafa on the occasion of his 70th birthday, July 22. Senator Ashafa, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority and represented Lagos East Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2011 to 2019.
The President acknowledged Senator Ashafa’s notable contributions as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Land Transport, particularly in strengthening legislative frameworks that supported the revitalisation of Nigeria’s railway system. He also commended Ashafa’s longstanding dedication to public service, grassroots development, and humanitarian initiatives that have touched countless lives across the country.
Reflecting on their professional relationship, President Tinubu recalled appointing Ashafa as Executive Secretary of the Land Use and Allocation Committee in Lagos in 2001 and later as Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Lands Bureau in 2005. He praised Ashafa as a seasoned civil servant and loyal party member whose leadership and integrity have consistently served the nation. The President prayed for God to bless Senator Ashafa with long life, good health, and strength for continued service to humanity.
