Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, for the official opening of the 4th African Union (AU) Annual Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Forum. The event is themed “Building Resilient MSMEs through Digital Innovation, Market Access and Affordable Financing for Africa.” It brings together key stakeholders from across the continent to accelerate the transformation of small and medium-sized businesses.
The high-level forum, taking place from June 23 to June 27, 2025, is co-hosted by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in collaboration with the African Union’s Department of Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals.
This year’s forum focuses on empowering women and youth-led enterprises, improving access to finance, and harnessing digital innovation for inclusive economic growth. It also aims to enhance MSME participation in regional trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The forum is organised by an inter-ministerial committee coordinated by the Office of the Vice President. Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, serves as Chairman of the committee, while Mr. Temitope Adekunle-Johnson, Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and MSMEs, serves as Secretary.
This initiative aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 goals for sustainable development and reflects the firm commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to driving inclusive growth, economic empowerment, and regional integration through support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises across the continent.
