President Tinubu Congratulates Senator John Azuta-Mbata on Election as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the foremost Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization.

Azuta-Mbata, who represented Rivers East in the Senate from 1999 to 2007, was elected during a meeting of the group held in Enugu on Friday.

In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu lauded the successful leadership transition within the organization. He urged the newly elected leaders to build on the legacies of their predecessors while championing the values and aspirations of the Igbo community.

President Tinubu emphasized the vital role of socio-cultural organizations in fostering national unity and development, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting dialogue among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic nationalities.

“The President recognises the critical role of socio-cultural organisations in nation-building; hence, his commitment to promoting dialogue among our ethnic nationalities,” the statement read.

The President extended his best wishes to Senator Azuta-Mbata, describing his new role as both a challenging and noble task. He expressed confidence in the senator’s ability to steer the organization toward greater achievements.

Senator Azuta-Mbata succeeds in taking the helm of Ohanaeze Ndigbo at a pivotal time, as the group continues to champion the interests of the Igbo people while contributing to national cohesion.

The presidency expressed optimism that the new leadership would foster inclusivity and strengthen the socio-cultural fabric of Nigeria.
