Tinubu’s journey forms part of a two-nation tour that began on August 15 when he left Abuja with his delegation. The President had earlier stopped in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before arriving in Yokohama on August 18 to participate in the ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD9).

While in Japan, President Tinubu attended the opening ceremony and plenary of TICAD9 on August 20, held bilateral meetings with global partners, and rounded off his engagements with an interactive session with members of the Nigerian diaspora on Thursday night before his departure.
