President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed claims of religious genocide in Nigeria, insisting that no faith is under siege in the country. Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, on Tuesday, the President described the allegations as baseless and misleading, stressing that Nigerians are more focused on unity, harmony, and shared prosperity. He noted that after 65 years of independence, citizens have come to appreciate cultural and religious diversity, using it as an advantage for national growth.

The President made the remarks at the unveiling of a book authored by Governor Hope Uzodimma on ten years of the APC government in Nigeria. He also commissioned several landmark projects in Imo State, including the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road, the Assumpta Twin Flyover, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Convention Centre. The event was attended by top APC leaders, former party chairmen, governors, National Assembly leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, members of the diplomatic corps, student unions, and market associations.

In his address, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s sovereignty, saying the country is built on faith and resilience. He emphasised that churches, mosques, and traditional shrines coexist as symbols of unity, warning against outsiders who attempt to sow division. The President declared that Nigeria’s diversity is a strength, not a weakness, and assured that his administration will safeguard the unity of the nation while protecting every citizen.

On the achievements of the APC, President Tinubu highlighted progress made since 2015 under President Muhammadu Buhari and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to productivity, infrastructure, agriculture, and education. He praised Governor Uzodimma for documenting the decade-long journey of progressive governance and assured the South-East that under his Renewed Hope Agenda, no region would be left behind. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Uzodimma both lauded the President’s policies, pointing to improved funding, economic stabilisation, and expanded opportunities in education and agriculture as evidence of his administration’s impact.
