President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit aims to deepen bilateral ties between Nigeria and France while exploring new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors.
The visit, described as a strategic move to strengthen political, economic, and cultural relations, will focus on agriculture, security, education, health, youth empowerment, innovation, and energy transition. President Tinubu is expected to hold high-level discussions with President Macron on fostering closer ties and unlocking mutual benefits for both nations.
Accompanied by his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Nigerian leader will be formally received on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides, a 350-year-old French military museum, before proceeding to the Palais de l’Élysée for a welcoming ceremony and bilateral meetings.
During the discussions, both leaders will align their positions on enhancing youth skill development programs, particularly in automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. They are also set to deliberate on shared priorities in finance, solid minerals, trade, investment, and communication.
A highlight of the visit will be the France-Nigeria Business Council session, which will underscore the role of the private sector in advancing economic development. The event will bring together business leaders from both nations to explore investment opportunities and strengthen trade partnerships.
Meanwhile, First Ladies Brigitte Macron and Senator Oluremi Tinubu will engage in discussions centered on empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups. Senator Tinubu is expected to present her initiatives under the Renewed Hope Initiative, aimed at improving the lives of Nigeria’s underserved populations.
The visit will culminate in a state dinner hosted by President Macron, celebrating the strengthened ties between the two countries. President Tinubu will be accompanied by senior government officials, reflecting Nigeria’s commitment to fostering international cooperation.
